Mango bubble tea and mango boba: how to make it

Mango is the flavour India already loves, and in bubble tea it comes two ways: a creamy mango milk tea or a light, iced mango fruit tea. This guide covers the difference, which topping to choose (tapioca pearls, mango popping boba or nata de coco), and how a café makes each from a premix.

The short answer

Mango bubble tea is a mango-flavoured milk tea or fruit tea served over ice with a chewy or bursting topping. The milk version is creamy, like a cold mango shake with tea in it; the fruit version is made with cold water and tastes light and tangy, more like an iced tea. “Mango boba” usually means one of these with tapioca pearls, or with mango popping boba, the little pearls that burst with mango-flavoured juice.

Mango popping boba

Our Mango Popping Boba are pearls of about 8 mm that burst on the bite. They need no cooking: open the tin and spoon them into a cold drink, yogurt, a dessert or ice cream. They are vegetarian and Halal. Keep them out of hot drinks, because heat dissolves the membrane, and do not freeze them. Sealed, a tin keeps 9 months; once opened, refrigerate and use within 2 weeks. They come in a 1 kg tin, ₹649 including GST, twelve tins to a case.

Mango popping boba also lifts non-mango drinks: see pandan with mango popping, matcha mango popping latte and chai latte with mango popping.
